Manchester United will aim to equal a Premier League winning record when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United will be bidding to equal a Premier League winning record when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils will enter the match off the back of a 1-0 victory over Brentford on Wednesday, with Marcus Rashford scoring the only goal of the contest at Old Trafford.

The result moved Erik ten Hag's side into fourth position in the table, and they would go above Newcastle United into third by avoiding defeat against Everton.

The Toffees, meanwhile, played out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, with Michael Keane scoring a late equaliser after Harry Kane had registered from the penalty spot.

Sean Dyche's side have lost just one of their last four in the league, also holding Chelsea before the international break, but they sit 16th in the table, level on points with 18th-placed Bournemouth.

Should Man United beat Everton on Saturday, they would equal a Premier League winning record.

Indeed, the Red Devils have been victorious in 38 Premier League fixtures against the Merseyside club, which is the second-highest number of wins that one team has managed against another in the English competition, with the record also held by Man United, who have 39 victories against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ten Hag's side have already beaten Everton twice this season, running out 2-1 winners at Goodison Park in the league back in October, before recording a 3-1 victory in the FA Cup third round in January.

Man United have not actually beaten the Toffees at Old Trafford in the league since October 2018, though, with the last three league meetings in Manchester finishing all square.

Ten Hag said during his press conference on Friday that his side would have to match Everton's "physical output" in order to pick up a positive result.

"It's obviously a manager (Dyche) doing a great job. The team is really fit from Everton. Their physical output is outstanding so we have to match that," he told reporters.

Man United will have Christian Eriksen back in their squad on Saturday, with the Denmark international recovering from the ankle injury that has kept him out since the end of January.

However, Luke Shaw will be missing with the hamstring issue that he suffered against Brentford.
