Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to break a goalscoring record held by Gianfranco Zola when the Portuguese lines up for Manchester United against Leicester City on Saturday night.

The forward has netted 18 times in 32 appearances for the 20-time English champions since returning to Old Trafford from Juventus last year.

Ronaldo has scored 12 times in 24 Premier League appearances, meanwhile, and he will be bidding to break a record held by Zola when the Red Devils take on Leicester this weekend.

In Premier League history, only Zola has netted more goals in a single campaign aged 36 or over, with the Italian registering 14 for Chelsea in 2002-03.

Ronaldo helped Portugal qualify for the World Cup over the latest international break, with Fernando Santos's side beating Turkey and North Macedonia in the playoffs to book their spot in the finals.

There remains widespread speculation surrounding the striker's future at Old Trafford, though, with the veteran believed to be considering leaving Manchester in the upcoming market.

Ronaldo scored three times in his last Premier League appearance against Tottenham Hotspur on March 12.
