Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick says that Paul Pogba suffered a calf problem during Tuesday's clash with Liverpool.

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has revealed that Paul Pogba suffered a calf problem during Tuesday's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League.

The France international was substituted in the 10th minute of the contest at Anfield after pulling up with an injury, and the midfielder went straight down the tunnel.

Speaking after the match, Rangnick said that the World Cup winner had "pulled his calf muscle", making him a major doubt for the team's next two league matches against Arsenal and Chelsea.

"He pulled his calf muscle and, as it seems right now, this will not be an injury like the one Fred has which will be gone in one week. I fear he will not be available for Arsenal or Chelsea," Rangnick told MUTV.

Pogba's contract with the 20-time English champions is due to expire at the end of June, and he is set to leave the Red Devils on a free transfer for the second time in his career.

Man United will end the month with clashes against Arsenal and Chelsea before opening May with a home game against Brentford.

Fred, Edinson Cavani, Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw remain on the sidelines through injury, but Scott McTominay was back on the bench against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
