Manchester United defender Paddy McNair reveals that new club manager Jose Mourinho has been in contact to wish him luck ahead of Euro 2016.

Manchester United defender Paddy McNair has revealed that new club manager Jose Mourinho sent him a good luck text ahead of Euro 2016 this summer.

McNair is in France with Northern Ireland, who get their campaign underway against Poland in Nice on Sunday.

The 21-year-old is expected to play a part in what will be Northern Ireland's first appearance at a major international tournament for 30 years, and he has confirmed that Mourinho has been in contact.

"He sent me a text message wishing me good luck for the tournament - that was nice of him," he told reporters.

"I'm sure he'll be watching and I'll be trying my best and hopefully he likes what he sees."

Northern Ireland are also in a group alongside Germany and Ukraine.
