Liverpool and Slovakia defender Martin Skrtel, 31, is said to be on the verge of signing for Turkish side Fenerbahce for £5m.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is on the verge of agreeing a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, according to reports.

The 31-year-old, who captained Slovakia to a 2-1 victory over Russia in Euro 2016 on Wednesday, is said to be surplus to requirements after eight years of service at Anfield.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are ready to accept a bid of approximately £5.5m tabled by Fenerbahce and give Skrtel permission to discuss personal terms.

Skrtel made 320 appearances for Liverpool following his £6.5m move from Zenit St Petersburg in 2008.
