Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sets unwanted record in RB Leipzig defeat

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer becomes the first manager in charge of an English side to lose six or more of his first 10 Champions League matches after defeat to RB Leipzig.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set an unwanted English record after the Red Devils exited the Champions League with a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening.

United were quickly 2-0 down thanks to goals from Angelino and Amadou Haidara in the first half, with Justin Kluivert adding a third before United set up a tense finale through Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire.

However, Leipzig held on for a win which saw them advance to the knockout stages and condemn the Red Devils to an early exit in the process.

Following their disheartening defeat in Germany, Solskjaer has now lost six of his first 10 Champions League games in charge - the first manager to do so while in an English team's dugout.

The Red Devils had already lost to Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir in this season's tournament before Tuesday's loss to Leipzig, and Solskjaer's men have also come up short against Barcelona twice and PSG once more in the 2018-19 campaign.

United must quickly dust themselves down before they welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford for Saturday's derby in the Premier League.
