Real Madrid complete a deal to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, as his availability becomes clear for the Club World Cup in the USA.

Bournemouth have confirmed that defender Dean Huijsen will join Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Huijsen has developed a reputation as one of the Premier League's best young players since he joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer in a deal worth up to £15.3m.

The centre-back has made 30 Premier League appearances for Andoni Iraola's side, with his performances earning him the chance to make his international debut for Spain in March's UEFA Nations League quarter-final tie against the Netherlands.

Huijsen's impressive displays soon led to transfer interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

However, it has become clear in recent days that Real Madrid were winning the race to sign the highly-rated defender.

Huijsen completes Real Madrid switch

Huijsen underwent a medical with Real Madrid in London on Friday after indicating that he favours a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over all other options.

Bournemouth have now confirmed that Huijsen will complete his dream transfer at the end of the season after Real Madrid activated a £50m release clause in his contract.

In a statement, Bournemouth said: "The centre-back, who joined the Cherries from Juventus last summer, has been instrumental in the club's record-breaking campaign, which has seen Andoni Iraola's side already break their highest points tally in the Premier League."

The Cherries went on to add: "Everyone at AFC Bournemouth is looking forward to working with Dean for the remaining two games of the Premier League season, before he embarks on the next step of his career."

Will Huijsen be available for Club World Cup?

Real Madrid released their own statement to confirm the defender will join the club on a five-year deal this summer.

Los Blancos stated that Huijsen's contract will start from June 1, that meaning he will be available for the Club World Cup in the USA.

Real Madrid will begin the tournament with a game against Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal on June 18, before they conclude the group phase with matches against Pachuca of Mexico and Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.

Xabi Alonso could lead the team at this tournament's tournament, with the Spaniard widely expected to replace Brazil-bound Carlo Ancelotti in the Real Madrid dugout.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Los Blancos can reach an agreement with Liverpool to release Trent Alexander-Arnold early from his contract to play in the Club World Cup.
