Liverpool to break transfer record to land Everton's Ross Barkley?

Liverpool are reportedly willing to break their transfer record to sign Everton midfielder Ross Barkley this summer.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to break their transfer record to sign Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form for the Toffees this season and has netted six goals in 34 club appearances.

He has over two years remaining on his current contract at Goodison Park and manager Roberto Martinez is keen to keep hold of him, having hailed him as a better talent than Wayne Rooney.

However, according to the Daily Star, Liverpool are set to test Everton's resolve with a bid of £38m this summer.

Barkley, who has so far been capped three times at senior international level, is expected to be part of England's World Cup squad, which will be announced by manager Roy Hodgson next month.
