Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms that Trent Alexander-Arnold has a slim chance of returning from a hamstring injury against Watford on Saturday.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold may be able to return to the squad against Watford in Saturday's Premier League clash.

The right-back was initially expected to be out for "weeks" with a hamstring injury and was unable to link up with the England squad for March's friendlies with Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

However, recent reports had claimed that Alexander-Arnold was fighting to be fit for the meeting with Manchester City, but Klopp has now issued a more positive update on the defender, who is in with a fighting chance of making the squad this weekend as well as Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Benfica.

"Trent trained yesterday and will be in full training today, we have to see what to do with it," Klopp told reporters at his pre-game press conference. "Sometimes these injuries can be five or six weeks, he has been out for two weeks, thank god it wasn't longer.

"Trent wanted to go to the national team but seeing his scans and pictures he could not go anywhere, we are tight for tomorrow but it's possible. Physically he should be fine and I have to make the decision."

Alexander-Arnold has scored two goals and set up 11 more in the 2021-22 Premier League campaign - no player has provided more assists in the competition this term.
