Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Benfica could line up for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg with Liverpool.

Benfica manager Nelson Verissimo rested plenty of his big-name stars ahead of Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg with Liverpool at Anfield.

The visitors lost 3-1 in the first leg and have since lost Rafa Silva to injury, with cruciate ligament victims Rodrigo Pinho and Lucas Verissimo also still out of contention.

Benfica made numerous changes for the weekend's Primeira Liga win over Belenenses, but Odysseas Vlachodimos is one who will retain his spot in between the sticks.

Former Tottenham Hotspur man Jan Vertonghen served a domestic suspension in that game, and the centre-back is now set to demote Morato to the bench in order to partner Nicolas Otamendi.

Full-backs Alex Grimaldo and Gilberto were also rested with this game in mind, while Julian Weigl was left out of the squad entirely and should now join Adel Taarabt in the middle ahead of Soualiho Meite.

Everton's spot on the left-hand side is seemingly safe, as is Diogo Goncalves's on the right with Silva absent, and Goncalo Ramos should also force his way back into the lineup over Joao Mario.

In-demand striker Darwin Nunez followed up his consolation in the first leg with a hat-trick against Belenenses, and the 22-year-old travels to Anfield having now amassed 31 goals for the season in all competitions.

Benfica possible starting lineup: Vlachodimos; Gilberto, Vertonghen, Otamendi, Grimaldo; Goncalves, Weigl, Taarabt, Everton; Ramos, Nunez
