Southampton are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Brest left-back Romain Perraud, amid interest from West Ham United and Leeds United also.

Southampton have reportedly won the race to sign Brest defender Romain Perraud, amid links with West Ham United and Leeds United also.

The 23-year-old demonstrated his attacking threat from left-back for the French side last season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 36 Ligue 1 appearances.

Leeds are looking to sign a new full-back as Ezgjan Alioski's future is in doubt, and David Moyes is keen to find a long-term replacement for 31-year-old Aaron Cresswell.

However, Sportslens reports that the Saints have progressed into the advanced stages of finalising a deal for the French defender, who is believed to be keen on a move to St Mary's.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has already met with Perraud and the deal is expected to be finalised once he has completed his medical, with his injury history suggesting that there should be no complications.

Since arriving at Brest in 2019, Perraud has gone on to score three and create eight assists in 61 outings for the club.
