Farhad Moshiri denies that Everton are for sale after reports claimed he was willing to sell the club for in excess of £500m.

Farhad Moshiri has denied that Everton are for sale amid reports claiming that he was open to offers for the club.

A report from The Guardian claimed that Deloitte had been appointed to handle the sale of the club and that Moshiri would consider offers in excess of £500m.

However, the Everton owner has told the Liverpool Echo that this is not the case and that he remains committed to the club.

The British-Iranian businessman has constantly denied rumours about a potential sale, first dismissing reports last July, when he said: "There has been much talk of investment in our football club recently – even takeovers – but I want to clarify that there is no 'for sale' sign currently hanging outside Everton Football Club."

The 67-year-old dismissed rumours again just last week in an interview recorded before the 2-0 loss to West Ham United, that led to the sacking of manager Frank Lampard.

Moshiri did leave the door open for minority investment in that statement, and has reaffirmed this to the Echo, to finance the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Toffees are currently 19th in the Premier League, level on points with bottom club Southampton, and two points below Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are in 16th place.
