Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly no longer hold any interest in signing Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have no plans to reignite their interest in Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

During the summer transfer window, the two London outfits were both in the market for new creative players as they bid to put together a Premier League title challenge.

According to widespread reports, the hierarchies at Stamford Bridge and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium had taken a liking to Gordon, who played a pivotal role in helping Everton avoid relegation in 2021-22.

Although the academy graduate only provided four goals and two assists, his commitment and relentless energy were deemed desirable qualities ahead of a big-money bid.

At one stage, it was claimed that Chelsea were prepared to pay in the region of £60m for Gordon, with the England Under-21 international interested in a move to the capital.

While Spurs were not necessarily prepared to shell out the same fee, they allegedly intended to rival Chelsea in any race for the 21-year-old.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, neither club will be pursuing a move for Gordon in the foreseeable future.

Speaking in his column for CaughtOffside, Romano said: "Everton have offered Anthony Gordon a new deal, let's see how talks will go in the next months. Chelsea have decided to invest in Mykhaylo Mudryk so they're not in talks to sign Gordon now.

"Tottenham monitored him in the last few months but they now feel they need different players as a priority."

Gordon initially started 2022-23 in excellent form, chipping in with important goals in draws with Brentford and Leeds United.

However, since the beginning of September, Gordon has completed the 90 minutes on just two occasions, contributing just one more strike but no assists.

The playmaker has also been provided with just 30 minutes of action since playing the entirety of Everton's 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day.

As it stands, his existing terms run until the end of 2024-25, and Everton are currently unlikely to consider a sale this month as they bid to move out of the Premier League relegation zone.
