Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher is allegedly open to returning to the Premier League during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea sold the homegrown talent to the La Liga giants last year, the England international going on to make 50 appearances in all competitions during his first campaign.
However, the 25-year-old was not always regarded as first choice by Diego Simeone, and the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Everton have since been linked with an approach.
According to former scout Mick Brown, who was speaking to Football Insider, Gallagher holds an interest in another stint in the Premier League.
He said: "Gallagher would be very much interested in a return to England. Everything being equal, if he had the chance to join Newcastle this summer, I believe he would do.
“Things don’t quite seem to have clicked for him in Spain, even though they rate him highly over there and the manager like what he brings.
“He’ll have one eye on the World Cup next year and he knows he has to play regularly to get into that England squad, but he’s not doing that at Atletico.
“So from what I hear, the chance to come back to the Premier League is certainly appealing."
Gallagher still has four years remaining on his contract at Atletico.
Wrexham to break transfer record
Meanwhile, Wrexham are reportedly on the brink of breaking their transfer record to sign a New Zealand international.
The Dragons are currently preparing to feature in the Championship after earning three promotions in a row, the aim now being Premier League football.
Phil Parkinson has already added former top-flight players to his senior ranks and it now appears that the club's Hollywood owners are preparing to break the club's record for a new signing.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Welsh side are bidding to secure the £2.16m signing of Empoli left-back Liberato Cacace.
He has contributed a total of two goals and six assists from 93 appearances for the Italian side since his arrival in 2022.
Empoli being relegated to the second tier of Italian football has seemingly led to a willingness to cash in on the 24-year-old.
Leeds talking to Feyenoord over winger
As for last season's Championship winners, Leeds United are allegedly in talks to sign Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao.
After a slow start to the transfer window, the Yorkshire giants have since picked their business up with several new arrivals.
According to Sky Sports News, Leeds have initiated contact with Feyenoord regarding the potential acquisition of one of their star men.
Paixao was one of the best players in the Eredivisie during 2024-25, contributing 16 goals and 14 assists from 34 appearances.
A further seven such contributions also came in the Champions League to naturally put him on the radar of a high-profile transfer.
As it stands, no official offer has been made, but Leeds are seemingly prepared to spend big on a player who still has four years left on his contract.
