Tiago delighted with 'complete performance'

Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago praises his team for their "very complete game" in Sunday's 2-1 win over Valencia in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago has revealed that he agrees with his manager Diego Simeone's assessment of the capital side's performance in Sunday's 2-1 win over Valencia.

After the match, Simeone said that his team 'had one of their best games in recent memory' as first-half goals from Jackson Martinez and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco sent the hosts on their way to the victory.

When asked about his own views on the match, Tiago said that his team "were at a very high level" against Los Che and also paid tribute to the club's summer signings.

"To be honest, yes, it was a very complete game. We did very well in the game, scored two goals and had chances to score more. The group is getting better. The new signings are increasingly adapted and we were very happy about the Valencia match," he told AS.

"We always want to improve but the feeling with which we left the Calderon is that the team is very good. We pressed high. The midfield was incredible, so I was satisfied, very much so.

"We were at a very high level, so I was happy. We knew that game was going to require a lot. Valencia have very good players. Nuno Santo picked four midfielders to try and fight for the second ball but Sunday was our day."

Atletico are now just two points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid after nine games of the new campaign.
