Crystal Palace interested in appointing former Chelsea boss Graham Potter?

Crystal Palace allegedly make contact with Graham Potter - most recently of Chelsea - regarding the potential appointment of head coach.

Crystal Palace have allegedly identified Graham Potter as a candidate for their managerial position.

When parting ways with Patrick Vieira in March, the Eagles hierarchy surprisingly reacted by reuniting themselves with Roy Hodgson, the Frenchman's predecessor.

The return of the 75-year-old proved to be inspired, delivering 18 points from 10 Premier League fixtures to secure an 11th-placed finish in the Premier League standings.

As it stands, it is unclear whether the veteran will remain at the helm for another season, his contract only running until the end of 2022-23.

Nevertheless, as a club based in London and that is placing greater onus on signing younger players, Palace will be viewed as an attractive option by out-of-work managers this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Palace hold an interest in handing Potter a quick return to the Premier League.

The 48-year-old lasted just 31 matches at Chelsea between September and April, recording 12 wins, eight draws and 11 defeats in all competitions.

That said, Potter departed Stamford Bridge with his reputation intact, a result of Chelsea's scatter-gun approach in the transfer market and guiding the club to the Champions League quarter-finals before his exit.

When Potter was sacked by the Blues' powers-that-be, he was allegedly presented with opportunities by other top-flight clubs, yet he insisted on taking a break from the dugout.

However, Potter will inevitably receive more proposals over the coming weeks and months, clubs aware that he will not be short of interest in his services.

One potential stumbling block for Palace is Potter's previous - and most productive - spell at their rivals Brighton & Hove Albion before his move to Chelsea.

Potter established Brighton as a Premier League club before his replacement Roberto De Zerbi remarkably guided the Seagulls to sixth spot and Europa League qualification this season.

The report adds that Nice are continuing to monitor the situation after missing out on continental football for 2023-24.
