Arsenal aim to avoid setting an unwanted club record in London derbies when they take on Chelsea in Wednesday's Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal will be out to avoid setting a new unwanted club record in London derbies when they meet Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for Wednesday's Premier League game.

The Gunners have seen their top-four aspirations dealt three major blows in losses to Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion and most recently Southampton since the international break.

The 3-0 loss to the Eagles represented Arsenal's second London derby defeat on the bounce away from home, with Brentford getting the better of Mikel Arteta's men 2-0 in the first gameweek of the season.

Should Chelsea prevail and keep a clean sheet on Wednesday night, it will mark the first time in Arsenal's 136-year history that they have lost three league London derbies away from home without scoring a single goal.

However, Arsenal have managed to avoid defeat in their last two trips to Stamford Bridge, and not since 1995 have the Gunners suffered four consecutive Premier League defeats.

Arteta's side have slipped to sixth in the Premier League table amid their streak of losses, but they remain within touching distance of Tottenham Hotspur after the Lilywhites' recent loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.
