Luka Modric will reportedly complete a move to AC Milan following the Club World Cup, with the Croatia international agreeing to make the move to the Italian giants.
The midfielder's departure from Real Madrid has already been confirmed, but he will represent the capital giants at the Club World Cup, with his deal being extended until after the tournament.
Modric is believed to have been the subject of interest from the MLS and Saudi Pro League, but it was allegedly always in his mind to continue playing European football, at least for another season.
Milan have recently emerged as the favourites for the veteran, and according to Sky in Italy, Modric will undergo a medical with the Serie A giants once the Club World Cup has concluded.
Modric was again a regular for Real Madrid during the 2024-25 campaign, making 57 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering nine assists in the process.
Modric 'to undergo' Milan medical after Club World Cup
However, Los Blancos decided against handing him another year, with the capital giants moving in a new direction under the leadership of new head coach Xabi Alonso.
Modric has had a glorious career at Real Madrid, scoring 43 times and registering 95 assists in 591 appearances in all competitions, and he has won 28 trophies during his time at Bernabeu.
The 39-year-old will have the chance to land one more trophy at the club before departing, as Real Madrid are currently preparing to take to the field in the Club World Cup, and they are among the favourites for the competition.
When will Real Madrid begin Club World Cup challenge?
Real Madrid's opening match at the Club World Cup will take place against Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal on June 18, before tackling Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg in the group stage of the competition.
The round of 16 is scheduled for the end of June/start of July, before the quarter-finals will take place on July 4 and July 5, and it would be a surprise if Real Madrid did not advance deep into the tournament.
The semi-finals are then due to take place on July 8 and July 9 ahead of the final on July 13, and Modric could help Real Madrid win the lucrative competition before quickly being announced as a Milan player.
