Hull FC secure a top-eight finish in the Super League with a 22-12 win over local rivals Hull Kingston Rovers.

Hull FC have secured the bragging rights over local rivals Hull Kingston Rovers with a 22-12 win in Super League's Hull derby, ensuring that they will finish in the top eight.

There was little to separate the two sides throughout the first half as the visitors twice cancelled out a lead from the Robins, before edging ahead themselves just before the break as Tom Lineham raced over for his second try of the match.

Hull FC extended their lead further early in the second half as Stephen Michael added to his first-half score by pouncing on a loose ball.

Jack Logan thought that he had put the win beyond doubt inside the final 15 minutes when he grounded the ball, but a video review ruled his score out.

Rovers were unable to find a late try to get back into the match though, handing their rivals a spot in the Super 8s, while leaving themselves ninth in the table.
