Preview: Woking vs. York City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Woking and York City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Matchday 23 of the 2022-23 National League season sees Woking and York City go head-to-head at the Kingfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The home side go in search of back-to-back victories having returned to winning ways in their last outing, while the visitors will be aiming to snap a nine-game winless run.

Match preview

Woking FC showed great resolve to see off the threat of Maidstone United in an emphatic 3-1 triumph when the teams faced off on Saturday.

Darren Sarll's men fell behind to Sam Corne's opener in the 34th minute, after which second-half goals from Rohan Ince, Rhys Browne and James Kellerman turned the game on its head.

As a result, the Cardinals have moved up to third position in the National League table, eight points adrift of division leaders Notts County as the season approaches its midway point.

Next up is the challenge of an opposing outfit who have lost just one of the last seven meetings between the teams across all competitions since 2007.

Unbeaten in six of their most recent seven matches on home turf leading up to this weekend's contest, the home side will back themselves to secure another positive result in front of their fans once again.

York City had to make do with a share of the spoils in their encounter against Wrexham AFC at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After conceding an 88th-minute strike to Thomas O'Connor, John Askey's men were on course to suffer defeat before Immanuelson Duku restored parity in stoppage time.

With 25 points from their 22 matches so far, the Minstermen sit 18th in the league standings, seven points off the drop zone having played a game more than Torquay United in 21st.

Currently on a run of four losses from their last five outings on the road, Saturday's visitors will be keen to avoid coming away empty-handed from yet another game on enemy territory.

Team News

Woking's Rohan Ince has found the back of the net in his last two home appearances, and he will be looking to deliver the goods in this one.

James Kellerman is set to retain his place in the lineup after the midfielder shook off an injury problem to start and score in his side's victory over Maidstone.

Immanuelson Duku came off the bench to make an instant impact for York City last time out, which could see him get the nod to play right from the off this time.

Twenty-five-year-old Qamaruddin Kouhyar remains a major doubt for this weekend's visitors, having failed to feature in each of the last three games.

Woking possible starting lineup:
Ross; Casey, McNerney, Cuthbert, Lofthouse; Ince, Anderson, Kellerman; Browne, Amond, Grego-Cox

York City possible starting lineup:
Ross; Crookes, Kougun, John-Lewis, Dyson; Hancox, Duckworth, Whittle, Kerr; Duku, Pybus
