The future of Stoke City boss Paul Lambert is allegedly in doubt, with a report claiming that the Scot has a 'break clause' in his contract.

Stoke City and Paul Lambert have allegedly inserted a 'break clause' in the Scot's contract at the bet365 Stadium.

In January, Lambert penned a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Potters and it has been suggested that the club remain happy with the appointment, despite the club's relegation to the Championship.

However, according to The Telegraph, the two parties could allegedly part ways during the summer due to an option which has been included in the 48-year-old's contract.

The report claims that the clause can either be activated by Lambert or Stoke's hierarchy by the end of June, although discussions will likely take place long before the deadline.

Lambert has recorded just 10 points from 14 matches in the Premier League, with the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday leading to their place at the second tier of English football being confirmed for the next campaign.
