Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he will be ready to hold talks with Toby Alderweireld over his contract situation from early next week.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that he intends to hold face-to-face talks with Toby Alderweireld to discuss the defender's Tottenham Hotspur future.

The Belgian centre-back has struggled for playing time this season due to a mixture of injury problems and uncertainty over his contract situation.

Manchester United-linked Alderweireld is said to have refused to pen a new deal with Spurs, leaving him with just a year left to run on his existing terms.

With the transfer window opening next week, however, Pochettino plans to get to the bottom of the saga once Sunday's meeting with Leicester City is out of the way.

Asked if a conversation is planned, the 46-year-old told reporters: "Of course. We are going to be ready from the moment we finish the season to talk about the important things for the next season.

"I think now we need to focus on finishing in the best way. Finishing third is the most important thing now. Then from Monday we will talk about all that is going to happen next season.

"That is the moment. Now is not a moment to talk about individual situations."

Spurs have reportedly eyed up Swansea City's Alfie Mawson as a replacement, along with Ryan Bertrand if Danny Rose departs.
