Southampton are reportedly interested in signing former player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
The 31-year-old is the latest ex-Liverpool man to be targeted by the Saints following their supposed fondness of Bobby Clark.
Oxlade-Chamberlain endured an injury-riddled campaign for Besiktas last term, managing just 18 Turkish Super Lig appearances.
Since making the switch from Liverpool to the Black Eagles in 2023, the midfielder has featured in 50 competitive matches, scoring five goals.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is known in England for his stints at Arsenal and Liverpool, while also earning 35 senior caps for England.
Southampton to re-sign Oxlade-Chamberlain?
According to EFL Analysis, Southampton are keeping an eye on the situation of Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the new season.
The 31-year-old's contract at Besiktas has been terminated, meaning that he is able to secure a free transfer back to England this summer.
As well as the Saints, it is understood that a host of other Championship clubs could swoop for Oxlade-Chamberlain, including Ipswich Town, Leicester City, Birmingham City, Coventry City and Stoke City.
There is also interest in the former Reds star from North of the border, with Scottish giants Rangers on notice as the summer window rumbles on.
Although Oxlade-Chamberlain is said to be open to a second-tier switch, there could be Premier League offers on the table for the former Three Lions star.
Unfinished South Coast business
As a teenager, Oxlade-Chamberlain commenced his professional career at St Mary's for Southampton, eventually earning a move to Arsenal in 2011.
The midfielder netted 10 goals across 43 games for the Saints between March 2010 and May 2011, during which time the club were competing in League One.
After a difficult time in Turkey, the prospect of returning to Southampton and helping them to the promised land is likely an exciting one for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
