Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri plays down reports that he could leave the Potters for Roma during the summer transfer window.

Winger Xherdan Shaqiri has suggested that he has no plans to leave Stoke City during the summer transfer window.

After two seasons in the Potteries, it had been suggested that Shaqiri may move on ahead of next season, with Roma said to be keen on his signature.

However, the Swiss international has played down suggestions that he could return to Serie A as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has just joined Liverpool.

The 25-year-old told Blick: "You know more than I do. I have not heard from AS Roma and still have a long-term contract with Stoke. I feel very comfortable in England, and there is nothing more to say.

"Every footballer wants to play in the Champions League, and I also want to do this in the future and also fight for titles, but I am in good hands in England. No-one knows what the future holds, but I am very satisfied with Stoke and have a contract until 2020."

Shaqiri has netted seven goals in 54 appearances for Stoke in all competitions.
