Saturday's League One predictions including Birmingham vs. Barnsley

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Birmingham vs. Barnsley.

Reading vs. Wycombe (Saturday, 12.30pm)

The Select Car Leasing Stadium is set to host a six-pointer in the race for League One promotion when Reading face off against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The Royals will be desperate to bounce back from defeat last time out, while the Chairboys will be looking for a win that could take them towards automatic promotion.

We say: Reading 2-1 Wycombe Wanderers

Both sides have been in spells of mixed form that have put their ambitions in jeopardy over recent weeks, but with an eight-game unbeaten run at home, Reading are unlikely to lose this weekend.

Additionally, Wycombe have been poor away from their own turf, so expect the Royals to take all three points on Saturday as they look to climb back into the playoffs.

Wrexham vs. Burton Albion (Saturday, 12.30pm)

In a match that could have ramifications for both League One's race for promotion and fight for survival, Wrexham are set to host relegation-threatened Burton Albion at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday.

The Red Dragons boast the division's second-best defensive record and will be looking to make it four wins from five this weekend, while the Brewers know that three points could lift them out of the drop zone.

We say: Wrexham 2-1 Burton Albion

Wrexham enjoyed a strong March, and they will be expecting another three points this weekend against one of the division's relegation candidates.

However, Burton have improved this year and considering their away record, as well as their showing against Orient, they will make their hosts work for their points on Saturday.

Birmingham vs. Barnsley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

With confirmation of a return to the Championship imminent, runaway leaders Birmingham City will welcome out-of-form Barnsley to St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park for a League One contest on Saturday afternoon.

Blues displayed the steeliness of champions to win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night, whilst the Tykes endured a sobering clash with Exeter City at Oakwell.

We say: Birmingham City 2-0 Barnsley

Unbeaten across 20 League One home matches, Birmingham should be extremely confident of putting Barnsley to the sword at St Andrew's this weekend.

The Tykes are in the midst of a six-game winless spell and do not have a permanent boss, making it even harder to envisage an away victory in the Second City.

Bolton vs. Bristol Rovers (Saturday, 3.00pm)

A place in the playoffs and a place in League One are both at stake on Saturday when promotion hopefuls Bolton Wanderers take on relegation-threatened Bristol Rovers at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The Trotters will be looking to build on their win last time out, while the Gas are desperate to stop the rot after four consecutive defeats.

We say: Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Bristol Rovers

Bolton may have been out of sorts at the end of March, but they will be expecting to take all three points against a relegation-threatened team this weekend.

However, the Trotters did need a last-gasp winner to earn their victory last time out, and Rovers could make the game a close-fought contest in their desperation.

Charlton vs. Lincoln (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Charlton Athletic host Lincoln City in League One this weekend, with the Addicks looking to continue their push for promotion to the Championship.

With just six matches remaining in their season, Charlton are fourth in the standings, comfortably in the playoff zone, and six points off an automatic promotion spot.

We say: Charlton Athletic 3-0 Lincoln City

The hosts are in fabulous form of late, and we expect that to continue this weekend.

Lincoln do not travel well, and this is one of the toughest away games that they could face, so we are going with a convincing Charlton win in this match.

Dreaming of automatic promotion from League One, high-flying Stockport County will travel to face Exeter City at St James Park on Saturday.

The Grecians have lost just one of their last eight games ahead of the clash, but the Hatters will be looking to make it four wins from five this weekend.

We say: Exeter City 1-2 Stockport County

Both teams have only been beaten by Wrexham since February, so expect this game to be a close-fought contest.

That being said, Stockport have won three of their last four, and despite being less-than-stellar on the road, they should take all three points on Saturday.

Huddersfield vs. Mansfield (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Both aiming to bounce back from midweek defeats, Huddersfield Town and Mansfield Town will square off at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday.

With seven games remaining, the hosts have dropped two points behind the top six in the League One table, while their visitors fell to 17th spot last time out.

We say: Huddersfield Town 2-1 Mansfield Town

Huddersfield Town are certainly in need of a victory to begin reversing their fortunes in the final stages of the playoff race, and despite failing to show significant improvement under Worthington thus far, we back the Terriers to make their quality count and take all three points on home turf.

Leyton Orient vs. Wigan (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Aiming to keep their hopes of a top-six finish in the League One table alive, Leyton Orient will welcome Wigan Athletic to Brisbane Road on Saturday.

The hosts now trail the playoff places by four points after a midweek defeat, while the visitors find themselves 18th following a loss of their own on Tuesday.

We say: Leyton Orient 2-1 Wigan Athletic

Needing a victory to avoid slipping out of the playoff race, we back Leyton Orient to bounce back at the weekend and take all three points against a depleted Wigan Athletic side who are yet to get going under Ryan Lowe.

Peterborough vs. Northampton (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Peterborough United play host to Northampton Town on Saturday afternoon looking for the win that will take them to the brink of survival in the third tier for another season.

At a time when the home side sit in 14th position in the League One table, Northampton are down in 19th spot, just four points above the relegation zone.

We say: Peterborough United 2-1 Northampton Town

Although Northampton have generally been economical under Nolan, they are facing a Peterborough side who have recently found some form. With that in mind, we are backing Posh to come through with the three points, leaving the visitors looking over their shoulders.

Rotherham vs. Blackpool (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Aiming to continue their climb towards the top six of the League One table in the final run of the season, Blackpool will travel to the New York Stadium to take on Rotherham United on Saturday.

The hosts returned to winning ways in midweek following the departure of Steve Evans, while the visitors strengthened their playoff claim with a third straight victory.

We say: Rotherham United 1-2 Blackpool

Rotherham United certainly looked rejuvenated under Matt Hamshaw in midweek after Steve Evans's exit, but a meeting with in-form Blackpool may be a step too far at this stage, particularly with the visitors charging towards the playoff spots.

Shrewsbury vs. Cambridge (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Shrewsbury Town and Cambridge United square off on Saturday afternoon with both clubs aware that they can ill-afford defeat if they want to retain a glimmer of hope of survival in the third tier.

These two sides sit in 24th and 23rd position in the League One table, the latter as many as 10 points adrift of 20th place.

We say: Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Cambridge United

On the back of draws in midweek, each side have something to build upon here. However, we feel that both teams will cancel each other out and produce a stalemate that suits neither club.

Stevenage vs. Crawley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Stevenage play host to Crawley Town on Saturday afternoon looking for the win that will keep them in contention with the top half of the League One table.

In sharp contrast, the visitors make the trip to the Lamex Stadium sitting six points adrift of safety despite a recent upturn in results.

We say: Stevenage 1-1 Crawley Town

With Crawley having turned somewhat of a corner under Lindsey, they are arguably the marginal favourites for this game based on current form. Nevertheless, we feel that Stevenage still deserve respect, and a low-scoring draw could be on the cards.
