Middlesbrough have announced that they are close to completing the signing of Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson.

In recent days, it has been reported that the North-East outfit were keen on taking Howson to the Riverside Stadium, with it being claimed that a fee of £5m would be accepted by Norwich.

Monk had previously been looking to take Howson back to Leeds United during his time at Elland Road, but he has now ensured that they will work together as Boro attempt to regain their place in the Premier League.

During his time at Carrow Road, Howson has scored 26 goals in 188 appearances in all competitions.
