Manchester United are allegedly open to parting ways with midfielder Fred during the summer transfer window.

Manchester United may give consideration to selling Fred during the summer transfer window.

Although the midfielder initially struggled to settle at Old Trafford, he has become an established and valued member of the first-team squad.

In five years at Old Trafford, the Brazil international has made 153 starts and 58 substitute appearances, scoring a total of 14 goals.

However, Fred has dropped down the pecking order since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, with 23 of his 35 outings in the Premier League during 2022-23 coming as a substitute.

As a result, Fred revealed earlier this week that he had been left frustrated over the amount of game time that he has received under the Dutch head coach.

Those comments came shortly after it was claimed that Fulham may move for Fred over the coming weeks as they look to add more proven world-class players to their squad.

According to Football Insider, the Cottagers may potentially get their wish with Fred's future under consideration behind the scenes.

The report suggests that Fred will be allowed to make the final decision over the next phase of his career, rather than United directly edging him out of their plans.

Just over a year is remaining on the former Shakhtar Donetsk's man's contract, with United not possessing the option to automatically extend those terms.

United would theoretically welcome any funds generated from selling Fred as they look to significantly strengthen their squad ahead of 2023-24.

If Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is to move to the Theatre of Dreams, it will take an offer in excess of £50m for one of their Premier League rivals to immediately do business.

Meanwhile, the likes of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane are also said to be on Ten Hag's radar.

With Harry Maguire being linked with a move elsewhere and United not being in a position where they can demand a big fee for the England international, funds for a replacement may have to come from other sources, such as parting ways with a player of Fred's profile.
