Manchester United may reportedly only have £50m to spend this summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United will supposedly have just £50m to spend this summer if they fail to qualify for the 2022-23 Champions League.

The Red Devils are expected to move for a new big-name striker in the summer window, while a new central midfielder and centre-back are also thought to be on the agenda.

Ralf Rangnick's side are currently clinging onto the fourth and final Champions League spot, but Arsenal are just two points behind the Red Devils having played three fewer matches.

Should Man United drop out of the Champions League places come the end of the season, The Telegraph claims that whoever is in the hotseat will only be handed a war chest of £50m.

The report adds that the coffers could be boosted to £80m with a top-four spot, but a limited budget will see the Red Devils struggle to convince top managerial candidates such as Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino to make the move to Old Trafford.

Man United are one of several sides expected to battle for Erling Braut Haaland's signature, while West Ham United's Declan Rice is also thought to be a top target for the club.
