Chelsea are allegedly interested in signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, but the Blues are currently focusing on a deal for RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer, but the Blues are currently focusing on a deal for RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons.

Garnacho will leave Man United during this summer's transfer window due to the breakdown in his relationship with Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim.

The Argentina international was not involved in Man United's opening pre-season friendly of the summer against Leeds United last weekend, and he has not made the trip to the United States for their pre-season tour.

Garnacho is said to be determined to continue in the Premier League, with Chelsea named as potential suitors alongside Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are "attentive" to the situation, but there have not yet been any serious discussions over a move for the 21-year-old, as signing Simons is seen as the immediate priority.

Chelsea 'prioritising' Simons transfer over Garncho move

"Alejandro Garnacho wants Premier League move, and Chelsea remain again attentive to the situation. No club to club talks but still one of the names on the shortlist. Priority remains to advance on Xavi Simons at this stage," Romano posted on his official X account.

Simons, 22, has scored 21 goals and registered 23 assists in 76 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, and his future has been the subject of much speculation of late.

The Netherlands international is also believed to be on Bayern Munich's radar, while Man United have previously been credited with an interest in his services.

However, Chelsea are seemingly in pole position for the versatile attacker, with the London club believed to be close to agreeing personal terms with him ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge.

Which club will Garnacho join this summer?

Chelsea have already signed Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Estevao to boost their attacking unit for the 2025-26 campaign, while Noni Madueke has departed.

Jadon Sancho is also no longer with the club, with the Englishman back at Man United after failing to agree a permanent move to Chelsea at the end of last season.

If Simons also arrives, then it is difficult to imagine Garnacho making the move to Stamford Bridge due to the incredible numbers that he will be present in the final third of the field, potentially opening the door for Villa or Tottenham to move to the head of the queue.

Garnacho, who is thought to be available for around £40m this summer, scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 58 appearances for Man United last season.
