Ryan Giggs: 'Manchester United will always give youth a chance'

Ryan Giggs insists that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will give the club's youngsters a chance this season.

Manchester United assistant boss Ryan Giggs has insisted that the team's youngsters will be given a chance to shine this season.

There was discontent among some Red Devils supporters following the sale of homegrown striker Danny Welbeck, but the Welshman is adamant that manager Louis van Gaal is committed to the club's youth.

"The history of the club is to play exciting football, always give youngsters a chance, and keep to the traditions of the club," Sky Sports News quotes Giggs as saying.

"Okay, Danny [Welbeck] has left, which is obviously disappointing because you never want to see a homegrown player leave.

"But this is a manager who gave [Clarence] Seedorf his chance, gave [Patrick] Kluivert his chance, gave [Andres] Iniesta his chance, Xavi, Thomas Muller."

Giggs, who took temporary charge of United following the dismissal of David Moyes last season, was named as Van Gaal's deputy in May.
