Manchester United defender Harry Amass is allegedly set to spend the 2025-26 campaign on loan, with clubs from the Championship interested.

Manchester United defender Harry Amass is reportedly set to spend the 2025-26 campaign on loan.

The 18-year-old was a notable absentee when Man United head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed his squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly with fellow Premier League club Leeds United.

Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw are options when it comes to the left-sided wing-back spot, while new signing Diego Leon also features in that area of the field, with the 18-year-old seemingly set to spend the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford rather than leave on loan.

Amass, though, will allegedly spend next season on loan, with Man United chiefs believing it to be the right decision at this stage of his career.

According to journalist Simon Stone, there is a host of interest from the Championship and Europe, with the Red Devils deciding to loan him out for the entirety of the 2025-26 campaign.

Amass arrived at Man United from Watford in 2023, and he made seven appearances for the Red Devils during the 2024-25 campaign, showing his potential.

The teenager made five Premier League appearances for the 20-time English champions last term, but he was not in the squad for their final league match of the 2024-25 campaign against Aston Villa.

Man United's plans for Leon are unclear at this stage, but the new arrival did say before his arrival in Manchester that he was not expecting to depart on loan.

“Everyone thinks I’ll go out on loan, but I don’t have that mindset," Leon told reporters before flying to Manchester.

“I’m going to kill it in the pre-season, and within one or two games, I’ll already be playing with them. The feelings are indescribable. You feel so many things. The truth is, I’m very happy, very happy to be there.

“I think every player dreams of this, and I have the opportunity. Thank God for the opportunity. I think it was a bit quick too, but hey, you have to adapt quickly once you’re there. I’m already a professional.

“I’ll have to adapt a bit to the climate, the language, and all that. I have a lot of confidence in myself. I’m going to be at the top with them. Now with the faith intact that I can succeed.”

Leon, who is also set to travel to the United States for the club's pre-season tour, left Cerro Porteno with a record of four goals in 33 appearances, and he is viewed as one of the best young talents in South America.
