Manchester United are reportedly hopeful of having Andre Onana back on the field at the start of August, with the goalkeeper's hamstring injury not as serious as first feared.
Onana will miss Man United's opening pre-season friendly against Leeds United on Saturday, but he is expected to travel with the squad to the United States at the start of next week.
Initially, it had been feared that the Cameroon international would be absent until the end of August with a hamstring injury, but according to The Mirror, the Red Devils have received a major fitness boost.
The report claims that the 29-year-old has suffered a strain rather than a tear, which will make it a much quicker recovery process, putting him in line to feature before the end of pre-season.
Onana will also allegedly miss the tour games against West Ham United and Bournemouth, but it is possible that he will feature at some stage of the clash with Everton on August 3.
Onana's hamstring injury 'not as serious as first feared'
Man United's final friendly of the summer will be against Fiorentina on August 9, before the team open their Premier League season against Arsenal on August 17.
As it stands, Onana remains the club's number one goalkeeper, but there is widespread speculation when it comes to the Cameroonian's future due to his struggles at Old Trafford.
Onana has now had two full seasons at Man United, and while he has impressed in patches, the experienced stopper has made a host of high-profile errors.
In his absence, Altay Bayindir, who is also being linked with an exit, is likely to start against Leeds, West Ham and Bournemouth, while Tom Heaton will also hope to receive some time on the field.
Do Man United have any other first-team injuries?
Man United remain without the services of Lisandro Martinez, with the Argentina international suffering a serious knee injury in early February.
Martinez will be absent in the early stages of the new campaign, but his recovery process is progressing as expected, and he is very much on course to return before the end of 2025.
Man United's squad is otherwise in excellent shape, with the likes of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt overcoming the problems which sidelined them in the latter stages of last season.
