Veteran Lucas Vazquez will allegedly be leaving Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.

Lucas Vazquez will reportedly be leaving Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of June.

The 33-year-old has again been an important player for Los Blancos during the 2024-25 campaign, making 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and registering seven assists in the process.

However, Vazquez's contract with the reigning Spanish and European champions is due to expire at the end of next month.

According to Fichajes, the decision has been made for the Spaniard to leave on a free transfer, with Los Blancos not planning to extend his contract for a further season despite recent reports.

Vazquez has been incredibly important this season due to Dani Carvajal's long-term knee injury, but the Spain international is due to return next month, most likely in time to feature at the Club World Cup.

Vazquez 'set to leave Real Madrid'

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to arrive on a free transfer from Liverpool this summer, while Carvajal's return to fitness will seriously limit Vazquez's action during the 2025-26 campaign.

The Spaniard came through the youth system at Real Madrid before making his first-team debut in 2015, and he has represented the capital giants on 397 occasions in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and registering 73 assists in the process.

Vazquez has won four La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and five Champions League crowns during his time in the Spanish capital, and he could potentially add another league trophy to his collection this season.

Which other Real Madrid players are out of contract this summer?

Luka Modric also only has a contract at Bernabeu until the end of June, and it remains to be seen whether the 39-year-old is handed an extension, with Real Madrid believed to be planning to make a midfield signing this summer.

Jesus Vallejo is the third Los Blancos player out of contract on June 30, and the 28-year-old is set to be released; he has only made one appearance for Real Madrid this term and will seek pastures new this summer.

Real Madrid will be bidding to keep themselves in the La Liga title race when they head to Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday afternoon; Carlo Ancelotti's second are currently second in the table, four points behind their opponents at the summit.
