Liverpool have reportedly identified Roma defender Roger Ibanez as a potential transfer target.

The 22-year-old is technically on loan with Roma from Atalanta BC until next summer but will join the Italian side on a permanent deal if certain conditions are met.

According to ASRomaLive, Liverpool have been informed that the Italian side would be open to selling the Brazil Under-21 international for a fee in the region of £36m.

Ibanez has been an important player for Paulo Fonseca's team during the 2020-21 campaign, already making 14 appearances in all competitions, including 12 outings in Serie A.

The report claims that Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City are also keeping a close eye on developments, while Paris Saint-Germain have been noted as admirers.

Liverpool are allegedly not planning on making any new signings during the January transfer window.

Liverpool 'unlikely to make any January signings'

Liverpool are reportedly not planning on making any signings when the January transfer window opens for business despite the team's injury problems.

The Reds have lost both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term knee injuries, leading to suggestions that the Premier League champions would enter the winter market for a new centre-back.

However, according to The Athletic, the performances of Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips have made a strong impression on head coach Jurgen Klopp.

Fabinho has also impressed while operating at the heart of the defence, while the back problem that forced Joel Matip to miss Wednesday's clash with Tottenham Hotspur is not thought to be serious.

As a result, the report claims that the Merseyside giants are unlikely to make any new signings at the start of 2021 despite being heavily linked with a number of centre-backs.

Liverpool, though, are allegedly open to offers for Belgian attacker Divock Origi.
