James Maddison's World Cup hopes are seemingly in doubt after he limped off the field during Leicester City's clash with West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

The 25-year-old's impressive form for the Foxes this season saw him named in the England squad for the upcoming tournament in Qatar.

Ahead of the clash with the Hammers, Maddison had six goals and four assists in 12 Premier League appearances this term, but he made that seven goals with the opener at London Stadium.

The playmaker found the roof of the net with an impressive finish to send Brendan Rodgers's side ahead in London.

However, he then had to be replaced in the 25th minute of the contest after seemingly picking up a hamstring problem, which has put his World Cup hopes in severe doubt.

England are due to begin their World Cup campaign against Iran on November 21, while they will also take on the United States and Wales in the group stage of the competition.

An update on Maddison's condition is unlikely to arrive until Leicester boss Rodgers speaks to the media following the Premier League contest in the English capital.
