Leicester City will be looking to avoid ending a 17-year streak when they face East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Leicester City will be looking to avoid ending a 17-year streak when they face Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The two East Midlands rivals will lock horns at the City Ground locked on 17 points in the Premier League standings.

However, there are contrasting moods in the two camps, with Forest very much a team on a high after their recent improvements.

As well as collecting eight points from their last five top-flight fixtures, Forest earned a place in the EFL Cup semi-finals with a penalty-shootout victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek.

Meanwhile, Leicester have lost three Premier League games in a row and bowed out of the EFL Cup to Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.

With both teams just two points above the relegation zone, the stakes are high ahead of the upcoming derby clash, with Leicester looking to register a double after their dominant 4-0 triumph earlier in the season.

Nevertheless, Leicester make the short trip to their rival's territory having never scored a Premier League goal at the City Ground in three attempts.

Furthermore, the Foxes are bidding to avoid suffering back-to-back league defeats at the start of a calendar year for the first time since 2006.

During that 2005-06 campaign, Leicester went down 2-0 at Crystal Palace before they succumbed by a 2-1 scoreline at Sheffield Wednesday.

They were the third and fourth losses in a run of six defeats, and Leicester were required to win eight of their remaining 16 matches to finish in 16th place in the Championship that season.

Leicester are also on a run of losing two successive games versus newly-promoted teams with a loss at Bournemouth preceding the defeat to Fulham in the New Year.

Forest head into this fixture having lost just one of 17 home fixtures versus Leicester, registering 11 wins during that period.
