Steve Bruce: 'We want to emulate Stoke City'

Hull City boss Steve Bruce admits that he wants to emulate Stoke City's success in the Premier League following the Potters' seven-season stay in the top flight.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has admitted that he wants to emulate the success of Stoke City in the Premier League.

Hull and the Potters were promoted to the Premier League at the same time in 2008, but the Tigers lasted just two campaigns before dropping back to the Championship.

Now in their second season back in the top flight, Bruce has revealed that he wants to follow in the footsteps of Mark Hughes's side in terms of the longevity of their stay in the Premier League.

"This club went up with Stoke in 2008, and they've been there ever since," Bruce told the club's official website.

"That shows how they've progressed and what they've done in those years. That has to be my aim, to copy something like Stoke.

"They have a nucleus of some very good players. Mark Hughes is changing the way they want to play and they are a good side."

Hull face Stoke in their Premier League clash at the KC Stadium later today.
