Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Campos insists that his side did "everything" that they could to sign Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech on deadline day.

Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Campos has affirmed that the club did "everything" in their power to try to bring Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech to the club on deadline day.

The Morocco international was on the verge of joining Les Parisiens on loan last month, having fallen down the Blues' attacking pecking order under Graham Potter.

Ziyech flew to Paris to complete his medical on deadline day, and he personally pleaded with Chelsea to let him leave while the Blues stalled on a deal.

The two clubs eventually came to an agreement over a move for Ziyech, but the winger's move ultimately fell through due to a farcical episode involving Chelsea sending over the wrong documents.

The West London giants are also alleged to have sent the necessary paperwork late, and a computer system crash on the LFP side has been cited as another factor in the transfer's failure.

PSG appealed to the governing body in a bid to have the transfer sanctioned, but the move was rejected, and Ziyech will remain at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season.

Speaking to Telefoot about Ziyech's failed switch to the Parc des Princes, Campos claimed that negotiations "did not work out" with Chelsea, as PSG failed to bring in any new players in January.

"We have the player with us, we have done everything. But like in all transfers, we need the three parts to work well," the PSG chief said. "In this case, it worked very well for PSG, it worked well with Ziyech and unfortunately it didn't work out for the last part."

Ziyech witnessed the arrivals of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk to Stamford Bridge in a hectic January transfer for Chelsea, which was expected to force him out of the club.

However, the ex-Ajax man has enjoyed a mini-revival in recent weeks, starting each of Chelsea's last three Premier League games and setting up Kai Havertz's winner against Crystal Palace, which is the Blues' only top-flight goal in that time.

The Moroccan World Cup star - who starred during his side's historic run to the semi-finals in Qatar - has largely failed to live up to expectations in London, though, producing 14 goals and 11 assists in 99 matches in all tournaments.

Ziyech remains under contract at Chelsea until the summer of 2025, and he has been included in Potter's Champions League squad for the knockout stages, ahead of Benoit Badiashile and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

While Ziyech was understood to have been left dejected after his move to PSG collapsed, Potter insisted that the Morocco international would still have an important role to play for the remainder of the season.

"He's a professional player and understands the situation. He's committed to us and available for the squad against Fulham. He will be an important player for us for the rest of the season," Potter told reporters last week.

Ziyech could make his 100th appearance for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action in another London derby against West Ham United on Saturday lunchtime.
