Crystal Palace will be attempting to avoid equalling a club record when they face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Crystal Palace will be looking to avoid equalling a club record when they square off against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles have collected just six points from as many Premier League matches this season, their solitary success coming at home to Aston Villa.

However, having played the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, Patrick Vieira will be content with the club's start to the campaign.

Nevertheless, ahead of facing Chelsea at Selhurst Park, Palace currently sit in 16th position in the standings, two points above the relegation zone.

Having tested the likes of Liverpool and City, earning a point at Anfield before pushing the champions close at the Etihad Stadium, there will be belief within the squad that they can overcome Chelsea in Graham Potter's second game in charge.

That said, Palace head into the upcoming London derby with the added pressure of trying to avoid equalling a club record.

Palace have lost their nine last league fixtures against Chelsea, a run of defeats which started back in March 2018 after they had prevailed 2-1 in October 2017.

Should they succumb to the Blues for a 10th time in succession on Saturday, it would equal the streak of 10 defeats against Liverpool.

When including cup competitions, Palace have already lost 10 consecutive games versus Chelsea, a consequence of the FA Cup semi-final loss in April.

In sharp contrast, however, Potter has never beaten Palace during his managerial career, a run which currently stands at seven encounters.

As Brighton boss, four of the six contests ended in draws, while Potter's Swansea City side lost to Palace in an EFL Cup tie back in August 2018.

Another ongoing streak is the lack of draws between these two clubs, the last 22 Premier League fixtures ending in 18 Chelsea wins and four victories for Palace.

Chelsea have also won eight of their last nine London derbies away from Stamford Bridge, the only defeat coming at the hands of West Ham United last December.
