Burnley fight back twice to draw with Birmingham City

Matt Taylor's late free kick earns Burnley a 2-2 draw at home to Birmingham City in the Championship.

Burnley have fought back twice to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Birmingham City in the Championship.

The visitors made the breakthrough with just 10 minutes on the clock when Jon Toral got on the end of Clayton Donaldson's flick before finding the net for his second goal in two league games.

Burnley responded well after going behind, but George Boyd and Lukas Jutkiewicz saw their tame efforts saved by Tomasz Kuszczak.

With both sides showing plenty of attacking intent, Birmingham threatened again when David Cotterill's curled shot came back off the post, while Kuszczak was called into action towards the end of the half to keep out Jutkiewicz once more.

The final action of the opening 40 minutes saw Tom Heaton pull off a good save to stop Stephen Gleeson's fizzing 30-yard shot from dipping under the crossbar.

It took Burnley just six minutes after the restart to get themselves level as Michael Keane headed in from close range after Birmingham had failed to deal with a floated free kick into the penalty area.

The Blues fought back 12 minutes later through Paul Caddis, who blasted home from the spot following Tendayi Darikwa's questionable foul on Donaldson.

Burnley pushed hard for an equaliser after going behind for the second time in the match, and they were rewarded for their efforts with nine minutes left to play when Matt Taylor found the net with a free kick.

Sean Dyche's side looked the more likely to nick the points during the final few minutes, with Taylor flashing a shot wide before Maikel Kieftenbeld almost diverted the ball into his own net.
