A report claims that Bournemouth want to sign West Bromwich Albion centre-back Jonny Evans in this summer's transfer window.

Bournemouth are reportedly preparing a summer move for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans.

The Cherries are believed to be in the market for a new centre-back after selling Tommy Elphick to Aston Villa, and according to The Mirror, Evans is head coach Eddie Howe's number one target.

The 28-year-old joined West Brom from Manchester United in a £6m deal last summer and made 34 appearances for the Baggies during the 2015-16 campaign.

Evans, who won three Premier League titles with Man United between 2008 and 2013, was also part of the Northern Ireland side that reached the last-16 stage of Euro 2016.

Tommy Elphick of Bournemouth controls the ball during the friendly match between 1899 Hoffenheim and AFC Bournemouth at Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena on August 1, 2015 in Sinsheim, Germany.
