Louis van Gaal would be "evaluated" for the role as national team manager should he apply for the job, says Belgian FA president Francois De Keersemacker.

Belgian FA president Francois De Keersemacker has suggested that Louis van Gaal would be a potential candidate for the role as national team manager should he apply for the job.

Van Gaal has previously said that his position at Manchester United would be his last but after reports claimed that he was a possible replacement for Marc Wilmots, De Keersemacker has not ruled out the Dutchman being considered for the job.

He told reporters: "Van Gaal might be a potential candidate. We will see if he puts himself forward as a candidate. If he does then we will evaluate his candidacy."

Van Gaal has previously had two spells with the Netherlands, with his team finishing in third place at the World Cup in 2014.
