British number four Dan Evans reaches the third round of the Citi Open with an impressive win over Grigor Dimitrov.

Dan Evans has defeated Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets to reach the last 16 of the Citi Open in Washington.

The British number four was superb throughout and appeared to be coasting to victory when he brought up three match points in the eighth game of the second set.

However, Dimitrov saved all three before breaking Evans's serve and he forced the Birmingham-based player to try to serve for the match for a second time.

Evans saw a fourth match point come and go before he finally converted a fifth to register a 6-4 6-4 triumph over the former world number eight.

The 26-year-old will play either Lukas Lacko or Jack Sock for a place in the quarter-finals.
