Barcelona boss Xavi insists that there will be no quick fix at Camp Nou, as he prepares to lead the club into a new era.

Barcelona boss Xavi has called his job at Camp Nou "a medium to long-term project", with the Spaniard desperate to help the Catalan giants "win and win again".

The 41-year-old was officially presented as Barcelona's new head coach on Monday, with the legendary midfielder taking over from Sergi Barjuan, who had been in charge on an interim basis following Ronald Koeman's departure.

Xavi has said that his focus is already on the team's next match, which comes against Catalan rivals Espanyol on November 20, and the Spaniard is looking to help his former club regain a winning habit.

The former Al-Sadd manager, though, admitted that there will not be a quick fix for a club who are 'not going through their best moment'.

"We are already thinking about the Espanyol game. We have a derby at home. We will prepare to win it. Here we have to win and win again. It is evident that we are not in the best moment in our history. It is a medium to long-term project," Xavi told reporters.

Xavi took charge of 102 matches for Al-Sadd between May 2019 and November 2021, boasting a record of 67 wins, 17 draws and 18 defeats.
