Half-Time Report: Stoke City, Aston Villa remain level

Stoke City and Aston Villa are level following a goalless first half at the Britannia Stadium, on the opening day of the new Premier League season.

Stoke City and Aston Villa have headed into half time level following a goalless first half at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.

Marko Arnautovic had the opening chance of the match for Stoke as he raced down the left flank before attempting to curl the ball in, but his finish failed to trouble Brad Guzan.

The Austrian was involved again a couple of minutes later, this time crossing the ball for new signing Bojan, only for the striker to fired just wide.

Gabriel Agbonlahor came close for the visitors after Asmir Begovic had left the Stoke goal open, but pressure from Ryan Shawcross forced a mistake from the Villa forward.

There were chances at both ends in the final couple of minutes of the half, but Guzan kept out a Bojan effort before Agbonlahor came close again for the visitors.
