Tottenham Hotspur reportedly hold an advantage in their efforts to secure a deal for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly regarded as one of the leading contenders to sign Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa.

On Friday, head coach Ange Postecoglou called for patience from the club's supporters after a lull in activity in the summer transfer window.

Since the initial burst of bringing in Archie Gray and Timo Werner, and the previously-planned arrival of Lucas Bergvall, Spurs have acquired no fresh faces since July 2.

However, while the first-team squad are currently on a pre-season tour of Asia, further additions are expected to be made ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

A defender and central-forward are said to be on the agenda, while Spurs could benefit from acquiring more experienced homegrown talent to meet squad registration rules.

Nevertheless, it appears that they have a concrete interest in strengthening their options in the final third with a high-profile name from abroad.

Spurs competitive in Chiesa race

According to FootballTransfers, Spurs are one of several clubs who are said to be hold an interest in signing Chiesa over the coming weeks.

The Italy international has been in Turin since 2020, defying a serious knee injury to still provide 32 goals and 23 assists from 131 appearances in all competitions.

As many as 12 of those contributions came in 33 Serie A outings during 2023-24, yet the 26-year-old has been made available for transfer since the arrival of Thiago Motta as head coach.

Chiesa also has just one year remaining on his contract, seemingly making it a near-certainty that Juventus will cash in on the playmaker before the end of August.

Spurs hold advantage?

The report claims that Spurs hold "a very good relationship" with the representatives of Chiesa, a factor that could prove favourable to the North Londoners.

Furthermore, there is the past link with Fabio Paratici, who has worked behind the scenes at both clubs, yet the competition that Spurs face may count against them.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United and clubs from the Saudi Pro League are said to be monitoring the situation and may rival Spurs for Chiesa's signature.

Any proposal will need to be worth at least €25m, although Juventus are in a position where they cannot risk losing a player who they signed for in excess of €55m, including loan fees.
