Watford midfielder Tom Cleverley admits that Arsenal were able to punish their mistakes at the weekend during the Hornets 3-2 loss.

Watford's Tom Cleverley has reflected on their recent defeat against Arsenal.

The Hornets were defeated 3-2 against on Sunday, despite goals from Cucho Hernandez and Moussa Sissoko, as Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli all got themselves on the scoresheet to secure the three points.

This was the third match in a row that Roy Hodgson's men have failed to win a game, leaving the club 19th in the Premier League table, three points adrift of safety.

"I feel like it is the most offensive openings we have created since the manager has been in, and the difference on the day was the quality they had. Their keeper had to work just as hard as ours but they punished our mistakes, and that was the difference," Cleverly told the press.

"It is never good conceding when you feel like you are on the front foot, and then to get two goals back is always difficult against a top-six team."

Watford are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
