Martin Odegaard reveals Arsenal's remarkable ambitions to win the Champions League "within a couple of years", a competition they last competed in back in 2017.

Martin Odegaard has revealed Arsenal's remarkable ambitions to win the Champions League "within a couple of years".

The Gunners have not competed in Europe's elite club competition since 2017 and are currently enduring their first campaign in 25 years without European football.

Despite Arsenal's recent decline in the Premier League, Odegaard believes everyone at the club has high hopes in reaching the top once again.

"I think for this season obviously we want to get back to European football. That will be important for us, the players, the club and the fans," the Norwegian international told Sky Sports News.

"Then hopefully with time, win trophies, Champions League and hopefully win the league within a couple of years.

"This club needs to be at the top, needs to play European football and I think everyone agrees. It is not something we've talked a lot about but that's just how it should be in this club. That's the standard."

Odegaard, who joined Arsenal on a permanent deal from Real Madrid this summer, has made 23 appearances across all competitions for Mikel Arteta's side, scoring twice and providing three assists.
