Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain lifts the lid on his "frustrating" time with injuries and counts himself "lucky" to still be representing Liverpool.

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has opened up on his "frustrating" injury woes at Anfield during a troubled four-year spell.

The Reds forked out £35m to sign the Englishman from Arsenal in the summer of 2017, but he has struggled to become a consistent part of Jurgen Klopp's plans amid a spate of serious injury problems.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has featured 105 times for the Reds since 2017, but he has missed a further 75 games while on the treatment table, and he has affirmed his intentions to put those days behind him.

Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: "I don't really think that I've had, like, loads of injuries, but the ones I've had are big and they've kept me out for long spells, which I think sometimes makes people think I'm always injured. That's a bit of a frustrating one.

"But during those spells and the battle to come back and prove yourself and whatever, I've sort of had to remind myself that through all of that at this point in my career, I'm still lucky enough to be at an amazing football club like Liverpool and how lucky I am to have that opportunity to still be in this environment, competing at this level."

Oxlade-Chamberlain played 61 minutes of the Reds' opening day victory against Norwich City last month, and he boasts 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions in a Liverpool shirt.
