Programmes about Mother Teresa, Michael X and Michele Mouton are among a spate of new commissions announced by Sky Documentaries.

An in-depth profile of Mother Teresa is among five new commissions announced by Sky Documentaries to mark the channel's first birthday.

Mother Teresa: For The Love of God? is a three-part series that promises to 'reveal the extraordinary truth about one of the most enigmatic and controversial figures in contemporary history'.

The Three Lives of Michael X - due to air in October - profiles the man dubbed the UK answer to Malcolm X, while Queen of Speed tells the story of female motorsport pioneer Michele Mouton and Right To Fight charts the rise of women boxers in '70s New York.

The final commission is The Scream, a 90-minute documentary about the theft of Edvard Munch's iconic painting during the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Poppy Dixon, director of docs and factual at Sky, said: "In its first year, Sky Documentaries has seen stellar performances for films and series that cement the channel as the home of world-class and diverse real-life stories that span the globe.

"These five new titles join an incredible slate of content and reflect the scale, quality and ambition of the channel."

All of the new commissions will air either late this year or early next on Sky Documentaries.
